One of the best ways of keeping the oxygen content of the water high and reducing the build up of algae growth is through aeration.
The Ministry of Environment (MoE) has run several aeration projects in the Cariboo area.
If such a project were to be initiated on Bouchie Lake, it would require oxygen level readings to be taken for a season in order to establish a baseline, followed by a small scale pilot project of individual aerators to be run during the summer months, follow up oxygen level readings to be taken and eventually leading to a full scale lake aeration project, if the gathered data indicated that it would be both desirable and beneficial.
More details to follow after further information gathering from the director spearheading this initiative.
