Mit Lake is a small lake above Milburn Lake with no public access. The north end of the lake used to have a dam, which increased the area and the depth of the lake and provided a greater head of water for irrigation use downstream. After the Mount Polley mine disaster of August 4th 2014, where a tailings dam was breached releasing contaminated tailings into Quesnel Lake, the government reviewed all the dams in the province. The result of this review was that the dam on Mit Lake was removed, thereby reducing the size of the lake to its present dimensions. Mit Lake feeds a stream which flows into Milburn Lake.
