Algae (and unwanted water plant growth) may be controlled in a number of ways. Aeration, monitoring and remediation of phosphorus sources feeding into the lake, creation of settlement basins at the inflow of Bouchie Creek and Purser Creek will all help to prevent further phosphorus loading and therefore increased algae growth.
As a final resort, dredging could be an option. This option is the most invasive. A dredge has been employed in Williams Lake but has proved expensive to operate and is limited to only certain times due to the presence of painted turtles. Tabor Lake has long had a dredging program in operation.
